French toast is one of those comfort foods that’s always hard to pass up, but when it’s made with Challah or buttery brioche, resistance becomes utterly futile.
Here the moist, cinnamon-scented slices are drizzled with a zingy blood orange syrup and served with fresh blood oranges. The tanginess of the citrus fruits brings a fabulous contrast to the richer French toast.
If you can’t find blood oranges, use navel or Valencia oranges instead. The presentation might be less dramatic, but the flavors will be just as tantalizing.
