How to store asparagus

Asparagus are one of the first young shoots that emerge in the spring, and the tender spears are amazingly flavorful when just picked. But most of us don’t have an asparagus patch in the backyard. We rely on our farmers’ market or our local grocery store for the delicious veggie.

But have no fear! Here are three tips to help you select the freshest asparagus and keep them that way. Scroll on for a fun infographic and a video that show you exactly how to pamper your spears. (You’ll find scrumptious recipes too, just below the video!)

  1. thanks Viviane! Great tip and one I’m going to implement. I pulled some asparagus from the crisper to add to supper tonight and the tops with soft and washed right off. this looks like a much better way to store it.

  2. Marvelous tips!!! I know they do this at the market, but it’s never dawned on me to keep my asparagus in water at home. Brilliant!

  3. Love back-to-basics post like this. And gorgeous green asparagus clicks, Viviane.
